Exhibit: "Palate to Palette"...

Beginner Cast Course

I am now teaching at the newly opened Reboli Atelier in St. James, NY.  My class focuses on the Classical Realist techniques I learned while training in Italy. This is a great starting point for anyone who is serious about learning the fundamentals of drawing and painting.  Feel free to stop in for a free class anytime during the semester.

Beginner students will learn to draw and paint by copying plaster casts of Greek and Italian statues. Special emphasis is placed on students completing a sequential series of plaster cast drawings, from simple statue segments to complex bust and figures. All students in this course will begin with graphite, progress on to charcoal and then finish with a grisaille oil painting.

"Juicy II", Oil on Linen, 6' x 6"

I'm submitting this painting into the next Lyme Art Association exhibition titled, "Palate to Palette".  The theme is fitting.  I have a couple of other still lifes that will go into the exhibit as well (if they are accepted by the judge).  This painting costs $225 and is framed in a 3" pewter frame.

"Shining Bright", Oil on Linen, 24" x 30"

This painting is on view at the Lyme Art Association in the Associate Members Exhibit.  This is my first exhibit as an Associate Member - in order to become a member, an artist has to have been a member for at least two years and have at least four paintings accepted into exhibits at the Association.

I've been drinking warm lemon water every morning since reading about its health benefits.  This Japanese teacup is part of a set that I bought in Lyon, France.  It brings back good memories of my visit to the beautiful city with a friend of mine from the Loire Valley in France. This painting was done from life using a mandarin that I had in the refrigerator.  I used blue in the background and in the cast shadows and half tones to add contrast to the orange hues in the mandarin. This painting costs $225 and is framed in a 3" deep, dark-wood toned frame with a gold interior border.
