Nothing beats freshly picked strawberries in the summertime. In Italy, I've eaten strawberry desserts that are so simple, yet so delicious and refreshing on a hot summer's day. The Italian restaurants serve them sliced in a bowl with a sprinkling of sugar and lemon juice or with sugar and red wine. Both versions are great.
